Glass Lined Steel Tanks

Durable storage systems for drinking water and wastewater, used in aggressive environments for extremely corrosive fluids

The cylindrical glass lined steel tanks available in a wide range of capacities, from 50 m³ to 25,000 m³, with multiple roof options: flat, conical, dome or double membrane dome.

Lower costs compared to welded carbon steel tanks and monolithic concrete tanks.
Easy and fast installation: for example, a 5,000 m³ tank can be installed in less than 7 days.
With internal or external thermal insulation
Flexibility and efficiency: the enlargement of the tanks’ capacity and their installation can be made easily and at a minimal cost through the Top-Down assembly system.
Mobility: tanks can be quickly dismantled and reinstalled at other locations.
Glass lined steel has an exceptional corrosion and abrasion resistance, with a design life of 35+ years even in aggressive environments.

Design details

Each storage tank is designed individually or as a storage system, integrated into the technological process, based on any strict requirements of the project and the applicable normatives, in order to reduce a wide range of the total operational costs of the beneficiary.

Highberg Solution storage systems are engineered to meet all static and dynamic load calculations (wind, seismic, snow), specific to each location, and in compliance with national and international standards.

Every solution designed under the identity of Highberg Solution includes foundation design, orientation and positioning of all internal piping, including their interconnection with the equipments from the technological flow. These services are included in the price of every tank solution and are strictly defined for each project.

Components

Roof – Depending on stored liquid and tank diameter, roof designs range from simple flat roofs with drainage slope to more complex conical, dome or double membrane dome structures.
Tank body – Glass lined steel  panels with thicknesses ranging from 2 to 12 mm, designed according to static and dynamic structural loads calculations. The panels are electrostatically coated with mineral compounds and fused to steel sheets in special furnaces at over 800°C.
Thermal insulation – The optional external insulation applied on the external side of the tank body and the roof, using mineral wool blankets in various thicknesses according to heat transfer calculations. The insulation is protected against the weather elements with corrugated galvanized or painted steel cladding in client-specified colours.
Sealants and gaskets – Special sealing mastics and gaskets are applied between glass lined steel panels to ensure complete watertightness.
The sealants are selected specifically for each project based on the chemical composition of the stored fluid.
Accessories – A wide range of accessories and equipments can be integrated, from scraper bridges and aeration systems to heating coils and SCADA automation, along with other application-specific equipment—all structurally calculated and integrated into the storage solution.

Applicable standards and special certifications

The design and production of HIGHBERG SOLUTION tanks is carried out in compliance with the strictest international standards and certifications: FM Global, NFPA, VdS, EN 1090-1, EXC2, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 etc.

Roof options

For glass lined steel storage tanks, the following types of roofs can be installed:

Horizontal type roof made from sandwich panels.

Dome roof system, made from aluminum or other galvanized steel profiles.

Conical roof system, made from glass lined steel panels.

Double membrane gas domes for biogas plants, made from double reinforced PVC membranes.
